15 Ways To Save Time On Your House Cleaning
We would like to share an article with our readers regarding cutting time on our house cleaning duties. The idea here is prevention, preparation, system, and responsibility. I am sure you will find many of these suggestions beneficial. Many of these techniques are use by the Maid Right staff. Without further ado...

1. Prevention is the key. If you don’t make a mess, you don’t have one to clean up.

2. Get others involved. Everyone in the home should have a room or area of responsibility. Establish rules, policies and expectations for each person and each zone to be cleaned.

3. Leave your shoes at the door and use a door mat. The idea is to keep the soil outside your home. 80% of the soil in your house gets tracked in by occupants and pets. Keep the sidewalk, front porch, and garage floor clean on a regular basis.

4. Place door mats at all entrances to the home and at sliding glass doors. (Vacuum all mats at least twice weekly and wash or deep clean twice monthly).

5. Have your carpets cleaned professionally at least twice per year; This continuous upkeep will do wonders for the overall cleanliness of the home.

6. Remove soil; don’t just spread it around so you can’t see it. Use damp cleaning techniques and a vacuum cleaner with a dust attachment to rid your home of resettling dust syndrome.

7. Use a cleaning caddy and an apron. This allows you to keep everything in one place and have it handy as you clean each room. Handy tools and supplies are a trick we teach every girl here at Maid Right.

8. Work from left to right & top to bottom. Start at the door to each room and work your way around the room - cleaning top to bottom as you go; this way there is less chance you will miss something and keeps falling dirt and debris in the cleaning path to help eliminate back tracking.

9. Vacuum the high traffic areas twice per week, and vacuum wall to wall, including under and behind items twice per month. This includes couches, refrigerators, etc. If moving items proves to be challenging, use an extended reach attachment such as a 4 foot crevice tool.

10. Use a high powered vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter on all fabric surfaces of your home including carpets, upholstery and draperies.

11. Use professional strength chemicals, apply and allow time to sit for maximum effectiveness. Follow label instructions, then clean.

12. Use a anti-bacterial disinfectant cleaner in the bathroom and kitchen, especially counter tops and allow to dwell at least 5 minutes before cleaning.

13. Use a white or yellow scrubbing pad, not green, black or blue as they can scratch surfaces. Use liquid cleanser and a white pad or brush in sinks, tubs, and toilets. Pumice stone works very well on hard to remove stains and rings.

14. Use a carpet spotter or oxy type cleaner on carpet stains as soon as possible after they occur. The longer the stain sits, the more likely they will become permanent or require professional service to remove.

15. Keep pets clean. Give outside going pets a bath at least once a month. Inside pets once every 3 months. Also, as a hard as it may be, keep pets in a designated area. Pets that have the run of the household tend to keep the household a mess. Not on purpose they simply do not know any better but will be more than willing to accommodate once taught properly.

* 16. Wear protective gloves to protect your hands and safety glasses when working with dangerous or heavy duty cleaners. After cleaning, wash your hands with a mild anti-bacterial soap and apply lotion to your hands to avoid damage cause by cleaners.

We hope this helps in your quest for a cleaner home in less time. For more information, feel free to call Maid Right at 1-866-663-1977.
