To Tip or Not To Tip, That Is The Question??? |
Do you tip your house cleaner? Should You? Allot of new Maid Right customers ask this question, especially those who have never had cleaning services before. The answer, based on our current customers and a recent survey we did asking this very question is YES. About 82% of our customers tip their house cleaner. The industry average nationwide, according to CRS an industry related magazine, is 70% of house cleaning customers tip their house cleaner.
As you may know, Maid Right believes in sending the same team into your home at each visit. We like a bonding effect to happen. One way to strengthen that bond is to show gratitude for the services performed in your home by your house cleaner. A tip is an excellent gesture to show that gratitude and in this business it goes a long way.
We asked 250 of our current customers if they tipped, how much, how often, and why. The #1 noted reason as to why they tipped was because they felt that they received better service from their house cleaner. The #2 answer was because they felt the house cleaner worked very hard and deserved a thank you.
On average, of those 82% who tipped, they gave an amount equal to $20 a month to their girl. So about $10 bi-weekly or $5.00 weekly. This falls right in line with the national average.
We believe that the services rendered by Maid Right, or any house cleaning company for that matter, should be equal across the board. However, there is a definite visible distinction in the responses to our satisfaction survey cards for the customers who tip versus those who don't. This undoubtedly shows that the typical house cleaner will go the extra mile for those customers who show gratitude and express their appreciation to their house cleaner.
